Regatta

Better than new, Regatta is the flagship of the Oceania Cruises fleet and features a beautifully re-inspired ambiance. Each luxurious suite and stateroom is entirely new from floor to ceiling, including the bathrooms. Her decks are resplendent in the finest teak, custom stone and tile work, and her lounges, suites and staterooms showcase designer residential furnishings. Regatta offers four unique, open-seating restaurants, the Aquamar Spa + Vitality Center, eight lounges and bars, a casino and 333 tony suites and sleekly redefined staterooms, nearly 70% of which feature private verandas. With more than 400 crew to serve a maximum of 656 guests, it’s no wonder these small and luxurious ships are more than acclaimed – they are legendary.

In a dramatic re-inspiration process, Regatta has become a completely redesigned ship without peer. Every surface of every suite and stateroom is entirely new, while in the public spaces, a refreshed colour palette of soft sea and sky tones surrounds tasteful renewal of fabrics, furnishings and lighting fixtures that exquisitely encompasses the inimitable style and comfort of Oceania Cruises. From the bejewelled new chandeliers in the gracious Grand Dining Room to the beckoning Reception Hall, Regatta celebrates a rejuvenation so sweeping, you will find it positively unimaginable to resist her welcoming embrace.

Ship Reviews

The ship's crew was very personable, helpful and overall did an excellent job with the exception of the shore excursion staff. The balcony cabin was average with a very small shower. Entertainment was as expected on a small ship, but was available at 9:30pm only and that was late for lots of folks. An older crowd with only two small children on board. The main dining room provided better than average cruise meals and the specialty restaurants were very good. Embarkation and disembarkation were handled well. The shore excursion staff did a less than average job of coordinating the excursions and there was confusion at times during the organization and execution of the trips. The overall conclusion is that the service was better than you will find on Princess or Celebrity as an example, but could have been better when the value and price of the cruise is compared. I would take other Oceania trips in the future.

Overall the cruise was great. The food, stateroom, service, activities were very good. - We had the veranda stateroom and enjoyed having a balcony. We were on the right side of the boat so enjoyed the beautiful lights of Shanghai. Since the Regatta is small enough, it could sail up the river right to Shanghai. The bathroom was well designed to maximize the space and it had plenty of shelf space for toiletries. The shower was abit small. We really liked that our stateroom was cleaned twice a day. - The food onboard was delicious. We enjoyed eating at the Terrace Cafe, Polo Grill, Waves Grill, and having wonderful coffees at the Barista. The only meal which I felt that was not up to their usual standards was the Japan night. I am a Japanese American and have had eaten Japanese food all my life. The food tasted more of a mix of different Asian flavors. I liked the variefy of hamburgers and sandwiches they had at the Waves Grill and that it stayed open longer after lunch. It was great to eat a good meal after returning from an excursion after 1 pm. We were able to eat twice at the Polo Grill. I really liked their lobsters. - I thought Sea Days would be boring but we kept busy with the Art Scavenger Hunts, needlepoint, participating in the O points activities, and attending the Enrichment lectures. We were also fortunate to have Nathan Levy to teach us critical thinking with his Stories with Holes. - I wasn't able to attend many of the Entertainment shows because it was at 9:30 pm. I was usually exhausted from the excursions. But they did have a couple of predinner shows that were excellent. I especially liked the local performers that came on board to entertain us. We say Chinese Face Changing, Feather Balancing, and Magic, and Japanese Taiko Drumming. I recommend more cultural activities. I know many guests would like to have their names written in Chinese or Japanese, see a fashion show, discussion on customs, common language phrases (e.g., hello,, thank you, please, etc.) - However, I have three future improvements for Oceania. The first is on the timing of the cruise. We landed in China during their big Labor Holiday week and In Japan during their big Golden Week Holiday week. This caused a lot of traffic delays and we ended up spending an extra hour or more on the bus and less time to explore the cities. I hope more research would be done before scheduling the cruise in these areas. - The second, is the last minute changes. We were informed when we embarked that the stop at Takamatsu was changed to Kochi. I was also informed when we embarked that one of the excursions that I had signed up was cancelled because there not enough people signed up. I wonder if the Oceania could have told us that this might happen? On embarkment day, I had to scramble to figure out which excursions to take. It was stressful. If I had known that this might happen, I would have had a back up plan in place. I also wished that Oceania had told us earlier that there would be shuttles to town. Some of the port stops were fairly short, so just going into town would have been an option. - Lastly, there weren't enough laundry facilites. There was only one facility that was shared by the entire ship. Oceania did offer a discount on their laundry service during sea days. I would have preferred complimentary laundry service for one or more days.

Oceania cruise aboard the regatta was an excellent experience and I would recommend it all, the food was great and the atmosphere was amazing. Only recommendation are ensure there more scheduled times for speciality restaurants and make it easier for everyone after shore excursions to have lunch/dinner. Overall, the rooms were good and the staff members were friendly and hospitable, in addition to outstanding customer service. I wish there were more events ie magic shows and karaoke. Furthermore, a few of the shore excursions were very fast paced, need to incorporate lunch/dinning experience such as local food tour. The casino was good. I would definitely this cruise to friends and family. One of the most memorable and unique experience I’ve had. I met a lot of new friends and look forward to go on the next trip. Oceania is top tier cruise line and had the elegance and atmosphere to compliment it.
